For years, I couldn’t get over a relationship. No matter how much time passed, no matter what I tried, something inside me just wouldn’t let go.

What I discovered through Family Constellations was that it had nothing to do with that person at all.

The “bond” I thought I had with them was really a reflection of my own unhealed relationship with my mom.

💼 Career blocks

I used to feel like no matter what I did, I couldn’t win. Either I couldn’t reach the success I wanted, or when I had it, I couldn’t enjoy it.

And on top of that, I often found myself stuck in jobs I hated.

I thought these were “career problems.” They weren’t. They were a reflection of the relationship and dynamic I had with my sister growing up.

🌸 Chronic pain

I lived with endometriosis and chronic pain for 8 years. It shaped my life, my energy, my choices. And I thought it was all about my physical body.

What came through in Family Constellations was something I would have never, ever guessed: the pain was deeply connected to unborn babies in my lineage.

We are love.

We are love.

Every fear you never faced, every wound you buried deep, every truth you refused to speak, they don’t disappear.

They get passed on.

Sometimes silently, subtly.

Other times loudly, painfully.

But they move forward, generation to generation.

Until someone is willing to stop and say: this ends with me.

Unprocessed trauma doesn’t stay stuck in the past.

It ripples through time.

What you refuse to feel, your children may carry in their bodies.

What you deny, your grandchildren may live out without understanding why.

These inherited burdens show up as anxiety, depression, disconnection, or repeating patterns in love, work, and health.

But here’s the thing: you also carry strength, resilience, courage.

And you get to choose what becomes part of your legacy.

You can be the one who breaks the cycle.

Who turns toward the pain, not away from it.

Who meets the past with compassion so the future can breathe a little easier.

When you do this work, when you face what’s been avoided for generations, you don’t just heal yourself.

You heal forwards.

You become the kind of ancestor who passes on not the wound, but the wisdom.

Coco is the story of a young boy named Miguel who longs to become a musician—despite his family’s generations-old ban on music.

This conflict sends him on a magical journey into the Land of the Dead during the Mexican holiday Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), where he meets his ancestors and uncovers the hidden truths of his family history.

Miguel’s journey reflects a core principle of Family Constellations: that unresolved trauma or suppressed truths in a family system can be passed down through generations.

Miguel doesn’t consciously know why music is forbidden—but the ban is rooted in a misunderstood family story.

Like many of us, he carries the emotional consequences of something unspoken or misinterpreted from the past.

In Family Constellations, healing often happens when the true place of each person in the family system is acknowledged and honored.

In Coco, the healing begins when the forgotten ancestor—Héctor—is seen, remembered, and returned to his rightful place in the family’s story.

His exclusion had caused pain that echoed down the generations.

The film beautifully illustrates the importance of remembering and honoring ancestors.

The tradition of placing photos on the ofrenda (altar) mirrors the Family Constellations practice of bringing excluded or forgotten family members back into conscious awareness, allowing their love to flow again through the system.

The soil holds memory.

The rivers remember.

The trees have witnessed more than we’ll ever know.

Sometimes, the pain our ancestors couldn’t speak — because it was too heavy, too dangerous, or too soon — lingers in the places they left behind.

The short answer is no, you don’t need to share every detail of your life to have a powerful constellation.

Family Constellations work on the deeper layers of your system – your lineage, your subconscious patterns, your family’s hidden dynamics – and much of what comes up is beyond what your mind knows anyway.

However, it is helpful to share enough so I can understand what you’re coming with.

For example, what is the issue you want to look at? What keeps repeating in your life? Where do you feel blocked, stuck, or burdened?

I might also ask you a few basic facts about your family history.

This can include:

– Violence
– Extreme poverty
– Mental or physical illness
– Abuse
– Injustice
– War
– Early deaths
– Major grief or loss
– Major guilt or shame

These are often significant events that impact family systems for generations.

And if you don’t know, that’s okay too – because the constellation itself reveals what needs to come to light.

Another thing to keep in mind: Family Constellations can bring up family secrets or feelings and truths that have been hidden for a long time.

Representatives often feel and express what is held unconsciously in the system.

So, if you feel very private about your issue or you’re not comfortable sharing in a group setting, it might be better to choose an individual constellation.

How do you know when it’s time to join a Family Constellation?

You feel a pull.

For me, it shows up as a sensation in my stomach.

A quiet, persistent knowing that I have to be there.

That something is waiting for me in that circle, even if I don’t know what it is yet.

Sometimes people come to a workshop with a very clear issue they want to work on.

The first time a Family Constellations facilitator told me I needed to feel grateful for my parents just because they gave me life, I was furious.

It felt like a slap in the face.

At that time, I hadn’t done much healing.

I wasn’t in a place where gratitude felt accessible.

All I could feel was that my needs hadn’t been met. That I didn’t owe them anything. That honoring them felt dishonest.

It took years of inner work and deep ancestral healing for me to understand what this gratitude really means.

When we say our parents were perfect for us, it doesn’t mean they did everything right or never hurt us.

It means something much simpler and more profound.

If they were even a little bit different, you wouldn’t have been born.

Let that sink in. If your mother or your father had been a slightly different person, you wouldn’t exist.

We bow in gratitude not because they raised us perfectly, but because they chose each other, because they brought us into life.

That’s it. That’s the core.

And no, this doesn’t mean we excuse the pain or dismiss the trauma.

It doesn’t mean we have to forget what happened or pretend it was all love and light.

It simply means we acknowledge what is.

And from that place of truth, we say thank you.

Here’s the gift. When we’re finally able to say that thank you—not from a place of forced forgiveness, but from a place of clarity—we open ourselves to truly receiving life.

To living fully.

To letting go of old burdens and finally breathing in the present.

I had just done one of the exercises. Just me, my notebook, a cup of coffee, and the knowing field.

That moment turned into one of the most powerful “inner constellations” I’ve ever experienced.

Yes, we usually think of constellations as something done in a guided session, but this was a spontaneous, personal breakthrough that shifted something fundamentally in me.

A pattern that kept repeating in my life finally made sense.

There’s something profoundly powerful about working in nature 🏝️

The waves, the open sky, the earth beneath our feet, they all created space for my client to fully relax, connect, and go deeper into her experience 🧘🏻‍♀️
